Run through 2019

This year has seen some great transformations and challenges acheived by my Personal Training clients, with running events and raising money for various charities being at the heart of it. In May 2019, I completed the Leeds half Marathon with Anna who I have been working with now for almost 3 years. Anna's last run was the great North, and she was able to knock an incredible 45 minutes off her time! Diane has been coming regularly to my Monday night boxing class for the past couple of years, but wanted a bit of guidance after she booked on to complete her first 5k obstacle course. On our first session Diane surprised her self with how comfortable our run was. Boxing fitness definitely has some cross overs to other disciplines such as running. As the 5k course had various obstacles in we tailored the rest of our sessions to strength training and functional fitness. Along side this, we created a periodised plan to fit around her lifestyle. I started training Becky early on in the Year and when looking for some inspiration and something to work towards we chose the Great North Run in Newcastle. From not being able to complete a 5k at the start of our training, Becky's hard work paid off and we are now planning on attacking it again next year and improving her time. They say couples who train together, stay together.. Well Chris and Ann are no exception! I have been putting them through their paces week by week in my classes at the Crown Hotel, and through early morning PT sessions. Whilst they had already come on leaps and bounds, I challenged them to complete a 10k in the local area, and we chose the Cancer Research York race to train for. I gave them a periodised program to work towards when they were not with me, and received feedback through Strava and Fitbit after each of their training sessions. We are now looking for our next race and continue with the sessions at the Crown, with them recently joining on to my Monday evening Boxing class.

One of my proudest moments this year was receiving a message from a client called Rob, thanking me for helping change his body and turn his life around. I have been working with Rob since April and since his first session where he couldn't do any press ups due to lack of flexibility in his wrists, was taking various remedies to counter joint pain, and was unable to run half a mile, he now has a new lease of life and love for exercise. His training consists of compound lifts in the gym where he tells me has muscles where there were none before, Kick boxing drills and light sparring, and getting some fresh air in the country side after a long day at work where we have been working up to 6 mile runs. Well done to all my clients who are continuing to smash their goals. If you would like to prepare for a specific event or occasion then get in touch and I would be happy to help. #10k #cancerresearchuk #leedshalf #workout #goodhabits #GreatNorthRun
